In this month’s instalment of our series “People of West Cork”, Lorna O’Regan - nutritionist and wellness coach, talks to us about why West Cork is so special to her. Find out how being connected to nature helped her truly appreciate and realise the beauty of West Cork and the abundant food it has to offer.

We asked Lorna:
“What makes West Cork special?”
In a nutshell, the people, the scenery and the food. We are so lucky to have so much on offer here. I’m based in Clonakilty, surrounded by so many beautiful beaches perfect for a walk or a swim. A short drive away, I’m also able to explore other charming towns and villages across West Cork, offering a refreshing change of scenery. We’re incredibly lucky to have such amazing food and restaurants at our fingertips.
But of course, no place is truly special without its people. West Cork has a wonderfully eclectic mix of personalities and cultures, all wrapped in a relaxed and welcoming vibe. You can strike up a conversation with anyone, and that’s something not many places can offer. It’s a community where you truly feel at home.
What does West Cork mean to you?
West Cork is home and I love feeling safe and being able to do so much outdoor living and feeling alive. Although I didn't grow up in Clonakilty, I spent all my summers here as a child. I have the best memories of summers spent on Duneen strand which was an extremely quiet beach back then. Being near the sea is very important to me and walking from Owenahincha to the Warren or to Long strand are the walks I enjoy the most.
Do you have any events or upcoming plans that you want us to know
about?
Yes! Feb 2nd I have a great event, The Feel Good Health Fest. This is the first year of this festival and one not to be missed.
There are so many workshops to get you motivated and inspired with regard to food and overall wellness.
There's a great lineup including Oliver McCabe, Padraig Danaher, Colman Power, Karen Coakley, Linda Casey, Pam & Simon Skinner.
There will also be stands for attendees to browse and meet local producers.
