Toe Head
Toe Head
A dramatic, Mytical Landscape
It’s hard to describe Toe Head without being there, but there is something mythical about this magnificent location and its dramatic cliffs and outcrops.
Toe Head is on the Wild Atlantic Way, located close to other beautiful spots such as Lough Hyne and Castletownsend and only about 15 minutes from Skibbereen.
You can either add the walk to/from and along the cliff edge to a loop walk (Toe Head Loop Walk) or simply walk out to the cliff edge from the road - if you want, you can go as far as the EIRE marking (google to find out the interesting history of them).
Be very careful on the walk and don’t walk along the path where it’s very close to the cliff as these cliffs suffer from erosion and could collapse suddenly (walk further in on the field instead). And bring good walking shoes/boots.
Tips: Stunning to watch the sunset with the soft light warming the cliffs.

Beautiful at Sunset. Beware: stay back from the cliff edges, these cliffs suffer from erosion and could collapse suddenly. Bring good walking shoes/boots.
